What we do?

UMC is a partnership of NGOs in Poland and Ukraine that is working to provide medical and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Through a network of strong, well-established relationships with Ukrainian officials and key organizations, we are able to effectively procure and distribute aid to the places that need it most.

  • Connections

UMC facilitates efficient connections and effective communication for organizations, volunteer groups, and expert teams, propagating a network of relationships that can allocate aid when and where it is needed.

  • Reliability

UMC is committed to reliability and transparency, by vetting all requests for specific donations or high-cost medical items through medical professionals in Poland and official contacts in Ukraine.

  • Communication

UMC serves as a nucleus of communication for requests and distribution of all types of medical equipment and goods. We ensure that supplies reach the frontline through real-time communication with doctors, hospitals, and the Ukrainian Ministry of Health.

  • Coordination

UMC coordinates different magnitudes of aid so that each can fulfill the needs of hospitals and the Ukrainian Ministry of Health. We quickly react to developing conditions on the ground through various communication networks.

  • Efficiency

UMC is driven to provide aid when and where it’s needed most by prioritizing efficiency in our distribution of aid. We focus on delivering aid of various scales as quickly as possible without compromising transparency and reliability.

Transparency

  • Medical equipment

We provided over 10,000 surgical instruments and fixation devices for orthopedic surgery to Ukraine. To equip operating theaters we also provided X-ray machines, operating tables, surgical diathermy, and infusion pumps. We also delivered ultrasound machines, devices for negative pressure wound therapy, defibrillators, rescue stretchers, incubators, and supplies of consumables including sutures, catheters, etc. We also have helped to deliver and distribute Abbot pacemakers in partnership with the American Heart Rhythm Association. The total value of the medical equipment and supplies we have provided so far exceeds 1,500,000 USD.

  • Donations

In addition to the many private donors who have supported our cause, we also received generous donations from large-scale organizations. This includes Northwell Health, who kindly provided a 150,000 USD grant, Assoc Quest France Solidarite, who offered 120,000 EUR, and the Umana Foundation with 32,000 USD. Several organizations and companies that manufacture medical equipment trusted us with delivering the supplies they donated. This included the American Heart Rhythm Association, the NHS, British Ukraine Aid, the Isaiah Mission Foundation, Abbott, Biotronics, Stryker, Project CURE, and Nova Ukraine.

  • Partnerships

UMC has also assisted other charity organizations in the procurement of medical equipment for Ukrainian hospitals – which included incubators, infant flow devices, negative pressure wound therapy devices, spirometers, ultrasounds, mobile X-ray machines, and broncho-fibro scopes. We evaluated equipment and connected them with proven suppliers.

  • Our work does not end here. As each day brings new information and new humanitarian needs, we work to create targeted solutions to bring our support to increasingly complex situations.
